Family Reunions

posted May 5, 2012 9:28 AM by Rich Ballard   [ updated May 17, 2012 4:21 PM ]

Every summer descendants of Grayson County's many families return to Grayson to join their Grayson relatives at family reunions.  These are usually one day events but some span two days.  We would like to post information on these family reunions on our calendar.  If you have a reunion or similar gathering of Grayson Co. descendants please let us know about it.

Here are a few that we have information on:
Roberts Family Reunion -  The fourth Sunday in July at the old Bald Rock Church on Roberts Cove Rd.  It starts at 10 AM.  Bring a pot luck dish for lunch.

Blevins Reunion - Sunday following the 4th of July at the Konnarock Community building in Konnarock, VA.  Bring a pot luck dish for lunch.

Peak Family Reunion - Held on Father's Day

The Central Cemetery is having its Decoration Day at 11:00 a.m., on Sunday, June 24, 2012.

The James Madison Stamper and Jane Rutherford family Reunion will be held Sun July 15, 2012 @ 10 a.m.
The reunion will be at the Konnarock Community Center in Konnarock, VA.This is in Washington County VA. For more details, contact Carolyn Price or Sadie Greer. It is a covered dish event and all paper products will be furnished. If you have books, items of genealogy for sale feel free to bring them ...or anything you'd like to share

The Anderson-Cornett reunion is set for August 11, 2012.

This year we will change the format for our annual reunion. Instead of meeting at the Flat Ridge Community Center (the old Flat Ridge School) as we have done over the past few years, we are planning a MOBILE REUNION. We will assemble at 9:30 at the Central Church in Flat Ridge. From there we will travel to various sites of interest in the area. We will visit the graves of Revolutionary War Soldier and early Grayson County settler Jacob Anderson and wife Susannah Buchanan. From there we will travel the short distance to the grave of Jacob’s son John Anderson and wife Feraby Cornett behind the old Garnett Anderson house; we may visit the site of the old Anderson Mill on Fox Creek, possibly the old Clem’s Branch School, and more. We will work our way south and east and have lunch in Independence or Galax. A final agenda will be published in the Galax Gazette.

There are more.  We'll add them to our calendar as you give us information.
